Having made contact with the owner at a time when he was struggling to secure planning permission, we quickly established the acceptable parameters for development, and highlighted that a scheme for social housing was likely to prove both more acceptable to the Local Authority, and generate better value.

Established clients Hambridge Homes have an excellent reputation for completing high quality design and build schemes on behalf of Registered Social Landlords throughout South East London. Impressed with their track record, the vendors needed little persuading to withdraw their planning application and allow Hambridge to start afresh. Working closely with the Metropolitan Housing Trust, Hambridge soon secured permission for the demolition of the former textile warehouse and construction of 23 new flats and a commercial unit. The development was one of the first (if not the first) shared ownership developments in London.
