Elmers End BR3

Following the sale of Elmhurst Preparatory School in Beckenham to Teddies Nurseries in early 2002, we were delighted to assist the Principal in his subsequent sale of Eden Park School in nearby Upper Elmer’s End Road.  After 50 years of family ownership, the school was closed at the end of the Summer term due to the principal’s retirement. A sale was subsequently agreed to specialist house builder, Asprey Homes Ltd of Sevenoaks, a company that has established an enviable reputation within the housebuilding industry for exceptional standards in design and build, as well as its experience in the issues surrounding brown field construction.

Asprey Homes also put into practise its growing reputation for comprehensive land solutions. Given the importance and prominence of this site to the local community as a whole, the company held consultations with a host of local residents, the Environment Agency, and the local planning department, with whom the developer has built up a strong working relationship, since its formation in 1995.  Asprey Homes then commissioned Philip Brouard Architects, and provided them with a clear brief for a scheme of exclusive two and three bedroom mews properties. The company’s attention to detail and reputation for quality paid dividends as its application received widespread support, and was granted permission in little more than two months.

The demolition of the school buildings, many of which has temporary permissions, was undertaken in November 2002, and construction is progressing at an impressive rate.Acorn New Homes expect to release the first of twenty, two and three bedroom homes off plan in early 2003. Set behind a grand gated entrance, the homes will surround a central feature garden and benefit from concealed garaging to the rear of the development. Moreover, the high specification and superb location, close to local amenities and the capital, will be sure to prove popular with a range of purchasers, including first time buyers, young families, professional couples, and single people of all ages.
