Lee SE12

With huge state of the art Police ‘Centres’ under construction in Bromley South and Lewisham, it was inevitable that some of the smaller stations would become surplus to requirements in the process. The first such station in South East London was Lee, which was brought to the market towards the end of 2001. The Metropolitan Police Authority and their agents, Atis Weatheralls, experience difficulties with their preferred bidder who appear to suffer from last minute lack of confidence. Our retained client, Hambridge Homes, had tabled an offer during the first round of bidding and was contacted when the first buyer eventually fell by the wayside.  We quickly established that the MPA wanted a clean deal following the previous six months of uncertainty. Solicitors were primed and contracts exchanged just three days later. The deal completed inside a month. With over twenty years experience in the London Borough of Lewisham, Hambridge Homes negotiated planning permission for the extension and conversion of the original building to form fifteen 1 & 2 bedroom flats. An open day was hosted by Acorn New Homes in November 2002, during which, eleven of the apartments were reserved. The remaining four units have a course subsequently been reserved.
